Jelli Juniors
Our Jelli Juniors programme is for children age 4+ taught in three different stages, Foundation, Skills & Pro.
If your child is very nervous about starting their swimming, we recommend a term in our Path 2 Progression class. Please email us for more information about this class contact@thejelliswimacademy.com.
Our ‘foundation’ class introduces the key foundational skills that children need to swim independently. In this class we focus on body position in the water, confidence building practises & floating. Our method allows children to flourish and find their own buoyancy in the water as we do not use armbands.
Teachers are in the water with a pool helper to assist. Class sizes are limited to 8 in a class. This is the equivalent of Learn to Swim Stage 1 & 2.
Children will move up to our ‘skills’ class once they are confident in swimming unaided on their front and back and once they can put their face in the water for at least 3 seconds. In this class, we focus on introducing the skills needed to perform front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke legs. Teachers are in the water with a pool helper to assist. Class sizes are limited to 8 in a class. This is the equivalent of Learn to Swim Stage 3 & 4.
Once children can swim front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke to a high standard for 25m or more, they will then move up to our ‘pro’ class. In this class, we focus on fine-tuning each stroke, we introduce tumble turns, rhythmical breathing, treading water and sitting dives. Teacher is out of the water but the pool helper remains in to assist if needed. Class sizes are limited to 8 in a class. This is the equivalent of Learn to Swim Stage 5+.
FAQ
What age can my baby start swimming lessons with JSA?
Your baby can join us from 12 weeks. If your baby was premature, it is best to check with a medical professional that your baby is fit to swim.
Does my baby need to have their vaccinations before attending?
The current NHS guidelines state that babies do not need their vaccinations before swimming.
What temperature are your pools?
All of our pools are 30 degrees or warmer. Typical leisure centres sit around 28/29 – so we are proud that our pools are much toastier!
How do you recognise progress?
We are partnered with Watch Me Awards who celebrate each individual skill rather than hard to achieve stages, we also provide end of term reports AKA Feedback Bubbles, hand written by our teachers.

What payment methods do you take?
You can either pay upfront for the term via BACs, or you can pay monthly direct debit via GoCardless.
What do I need to pack in my swimming bag?
Once you have completed the enrolment process, you will be directed to our parent pack which has all the information in that you will need.

We also have a ‘calm corner’ available in lessons for all children who may need a moment or two to decompress and would benefit from sensory stimulation.
